What is "ABK-LE" ?

This is a application for Mac-Os and Windows that will come between your "mackie control" type control surface and your Ableton live software.
It aims to improve the workflow of "mackie control" type control surfaces by automating, among other things, repetitive gestures to access the various plugins, auxiliaries and pans in a more logical, fast and intuitive way.

Important

ABK-LE is designed to work with only one unit at a time. If you intend to add one or two extenders to your configuration, please choose ABK-LXT instead !

Usage

It's very simple:

Forget about the "IN/OUT, PAN, SEND, and PLUG-IN" buttons - they are bypassed and replaced by other MIDI notes so that you can map them to the functions of your choice (see MIDI mapping in the Ableton tutorial)

To access these bypassed functions, follow these steps using the "SELECT" buttons for each channel strip:

  • A single click on a track's "Select" button automatically selects the track and switches to "Plugin" or "Panoramic" mode based on your choice in the "1 CLICK SELECT" preferences.

  • A double-click on a track's "Select" button automatically selects the track and switches to "Plugin" or "Panoramic" mode based on your choice not selected in the "1 CLICK SELECT" preferences.

  • Holding down a "Select" button for one second automatically selects the track in "Send" mode.

  • To access the "IN/OUT" mode, hold down the Shift button while pressing the original "IN/OUT" button on your controller.

  • Holding down the "Return" button for one second automatically selects the "Plugin" mode of the master track.

  • A quick click on the "Return" button automatically selects the "Plugin" or "Panoramic" mode of the first return track based on your choice in the "1 CLICK SELECT" preferences.

  • In Mixer mode, when you change banks or tracks or press the "RETURN" button on your controller, the tracks are tracked in the Ableton Mixer view.

  • The "previous and next locator" buttons are bypassed and replaced by mappable MIDI notes.

  • The fast forward and rewind buttons are modified as follows: A quick click = previous/next locators. A long press = fast forward/rewind.

  • The Play button acts in play/pause mode when pressed repeatedly. When you hold down the Play button, it starts playback at the insertion point as originally intended.

  • For Behringer X-TOUCH users, the "plugin bank up/down" buttons have been moved to the top right after many user requests.

The remaining functions remain the same.
