What is "ABK-LE" ?

Introducing ABK-LE, the revolutionary application designed specifically for Mac-OS and Windows users working with a "mackie control" type control surface and Ableton Live software. ABK-LE acts as an intelligent intermediary between your control surface and software, transforming your music production experience.

The primary objective of ABK-LE is to enhance your workflow by automating repetitive gestures that occur when accessing various plugins, auxiliaries, and panning. No more wasting precious time navigating between different sections of your software to adjust essential parameters. ABK-LE simplifies this process by streamlining interactions and allowing quick and intuitive access to all the necessary features.

Imagine a seamless and efficient production environment where every move matters. With ABK-LE, you can optimize productivity and fully focus on your creativity. Repetitive gestures that were once tedious become automatic, immersing you in your music without distractions.

It is important to note that ABK-LE is designed to work with only one unit at a time. However, if you plan on adding one or two extensions to your setup, we recommend choosing ABK-LXT, a version specially developed to meet your needs.

Take your music production experience to the next level with ABK-LE. Simplify your workflow, save valuable time, and unleash your limitless creativity. Download ABK-LE now and discover a whole new way to interact with your Ableton Live software.

Using ABK-LE is straightforward. Here's a simple guide:

1) Forget about the "IN/OUT, PAN, SEND, and PLUG-IN" buttons - they are bypassed and replaced by other MIDI notes. You can map these MIDI notes to the functions of your choice using Ableton's MIDI mapping feature (refer to the Ableton tutorial for more details).

2) To access the bypassed functions, follow these steps using the "SELECT" buttons for each channel strip:

  • Single-click on a track's "Select" button: This automatically selects the track and switches to "Plugin" or "Panoramic" mode, depending on your preference set in the "1 CLICK SELECT" preferences.

  • Double-click on a track's "Select" button: This automatically selects the track and switches to "Plugin" or "Panoramic" mode, depending on your preference not selected in the "1 CLICK SELECT" preferences.

  • Hold down a "Select" button for one second: This automatically selects the track in "Send" mode.

  • To access the "IN/OUT" mode, hold down the Shift button while pressing the original "IN/OUT" button on your controller.

  • Hold down the "Return" button for one second: This automatically selects the "Plugin" mode of the master track.

  • Quick click on the "Return" button: This automatically selects the "Plugin" or "Panoramic" mode of the first return track, based on your preference set in the "1 CLICK SELECT" preferences.

3) In Mixer mode, when you change banks or tracks or press the "RETURN" button on your controller, the tracks are tracked in the Ableton Mixer view.

4) The "previous and next locator" buttons are bypassed and replaced by mappable MIDI notes.

5) The fast forward and rewind buttons function as follows: Quick click = previous/next locators, long press = fast forward/rewind.

6) The Play button acts in play/pause mode when pressed repeatedly. Holding down the Play button starts playback at the insertion point, as originally intended.

7) For Behringer X-TOUCH users, the "plugin bank up/down" buttons have been moved to the top right, based on user requests.

The remaining functions remain unchanged.
